Anaheim, CA – Individual Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 5 Fwy

Anaheim, CA (April 25, 2022) – On Monday morning, April 25, one person was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Anaheim.

Police confirmed that the accident happened around 12:52 a.m. on the Santa Ana 5 Freeway. A pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified by police, was crossing over lanes of traffic when they were suddenly struck by a white pickup truck in the number 1 lane. The driver of the pickup truck immediately fled the scene of the crash.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was severely injured when he was found by police. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A motorist later contacted California Highway Patrol officials around 1:33 a.m. to say that he believed he struck something on the highway. The driver pulled over at Disneyland Drive to wait for the police. It is not known if he was charged.

The roadway was blocked in all southbound lanes of traffic for an extended period of time. The roadway was completely reopened around 4:20 a.m.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
