Anaheim, CA – Woman Killed, Suspect Arrested in Pedestrian Crash on East St

Anaheim, CA (April 22, 2023) – On Saturday morning in Anaheim, a woman in her forties was killed when the driver of a speeding SUV who was evading police lost control of the car and hit her.

Anaheim police sergeant Jon McClintock said the suspect was located several hours after the fatal crash less than half a mile from the scene.

At 1:20 a.m., a collision was reported in the 700 block of North East Street; according to McClintock, the driver, who was wanted by Placentia police on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, fled the scene on foot. Prior to the collision, Placentia police had been pursuing the SUV but had called it off.

According to the sergeant, the woman was taken to the hospital but later died there. The Anaheim Police Department delayed disclosing her identity but added that the suspect was found and apprehended a short time later.

An investigation remains ongoing at this time, and any witnesses were asked to contact the police.

Our sincere condolences are extended to the deceased woman’s family.
