Fatal Car Accidents in California

In 2020, more than 3,800 people were killed in fatal car accidents in California, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which was more than the 3,719 people that were killed in car accidents in 2019. In 2022, there were already over 1,000 deaths related to car accidents in just the first three months.

Accidents happen for many reasons, but most often they are caused by some form of reckless or negligent driving, such as texting while driving, speeding, impaired driving, or failing to yield or stop at traffic lights and stop signs. More than one-third of all road fatalities in the US are caused by reckless driving. Accidents can happen in a blink of an eye. Therefore, on congested Californian roadways, drivers need to exercise extra caution when commuting and make sure they are following the rules of the road, to try to mitigate any chance of an accident happening. Unfortunately, though, accidents still happen and are oftentimes out of our control, no matter how cautious a driver is.
