The accident caused much damage. The accident delayed local traffic for many hours as crews tended to the victims, conducted their investigation, and cleared the accident. Southern California is one of the most densely populated regions in the nation and has some of the most congested roadways as a result. More than 3,500 people die in traffic accidents each year in California, and this number has increased each year. Accidents often occur due to a driver’s negligent actions, which may include texting while driving, speeding, or impaired driving. Research indicates that more than one-third of all road fatalities in the US are caused by speeding drivers. These reckless choices dramatically increase a driver’s risk of being in an accident and causing great harm to someone else.
