Clairemont, CA – One Killed, One Injured in Fatal Crash on SR-52 Ramp

Clairemont, CA (October 6, 2022) – On Monday morning, October 3, a serious accident was reported in Clairemont that killed one person and injured one other.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on the ramp to the SR-52 at Regents Road. The accident occurred when a 45-year-old man lost control of his vehicle, a Toyota Camry while exiting the freeway at Regents Road. His car traveled out of control across the city street crossed over a roadway divider and collided with a Hyundai Elantra that was traveling on the onramp to the freeway. The Toyota violently crashed into the Hyundai, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

Emergency personnel was called to the scene. The 39-year-old driver of the Hyundai sustained major injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the accident scene. Her name has not yet been released at this time, pending notification of her next of kin. Paramedics transported the driver of the Toyota to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for further treatment of his injuries, which were described as serious, but not life-threatening.

The accident caused much damage to the involved vehicles. There were traffic delays in the area as crews tended to the victims and cleared the accident.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and its causes.
