Costa Mesa, CA (February 26, 2022) – A pedestrian sustained injuries in a car accident that took place on a roadway in Costa Mesa on Saturday morning, February 26.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 1:41 a.m. on Newport Boulevard around the area of East 17thStreet. When police arrived at the scene, they found a Toyota Prius that was being used as an Uber vehicle with major front-end damage. They also found a pedestrian down in the roadway.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The driver of the Uber remained at the scene and has been cooperating with police. All southbound lanes of traffic were blocked for hours as police worked to clear the scene.
