Fountain Valley, CA – Liem Bui Killed in Bicycle Crash at Heil Ave & Euclid St

Fountain Valley, CA (January 17, 2022) – Police reported that one person was killed in a fatal bicycle crash that occurred in Fountain Valley on Saturday, January 15.

Orange County officials confirmed that the accident happened around 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of Euclid Street and Heil Avenue. A man identified as 71-year-old Liem Bui was traveling on his bicycle in the area when he was suddenly struck by a driver. The driver immediately fled the scene of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Bui sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. He was immediately pronounced dead at the scene.

Police searched for the driver who fled the scene of the accident. She has since been identified as 32-year-old Amanda Martin. She has since been arrested on DUI charges, as well as a felony hit-and-run.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update as more information becomes available.
