Fresno, CA – Cynthia Vang Killed in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on Church Ave

Fresno, CA (August 21, 2022) – On Thursday afternoon, August 18, a serious multi-vehicle accident was reported in Fresno that tragically killed one person.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Church Ave between Marks and Hughes Aves in southwest Fresno. At least three cars were involved in the accident when a small Kia was waiting to make a left turn into their residence when they were hit from behind by a Cadillac Escalade. The impact of the crash pushed the Kia into the other lane of traffic and crashed head-on with a GMC van. The Kia was crushed from behind and severely damaged in the front as well.

Emergency personnel was called to the scene. Firefighters and paramedics quickly responded to the accident and worked to help people from their vehicles and tend to injuries. Cynthia Vang, 31, was a passenger inside the Kia. She was transported to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center but sadly did not survive.

There is no other information at this time about the injuries of the occupants of the other vehicles involved in the crash.

The accident caused much damage to the involved vehicles and the area had delays as crews tended to the victims and cleared the accident.

We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victim’s family at this time. Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by this tragedy.

Our thoughts are also with anyone else injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.

Fatal Car Accidents in California

California has some of the busiest and most dangerous metropolitans in the country. Californians have long commutes on the congested roadways. In 2018, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that more than 3,500 people were killed in fatal car accidents in California. This number has increased each year, even throughout the covid-19 pandemic. In the first three months of 2021, reports indicate that 1,104 people died in fatal traffic accidents. There are more fatal traffic accidents in California than in any other state. There are many reasons for accidents to happen in California, including texting while driving, speeding, impaired driving, or simply failing to yield or stop at traffic lights and stop signs. With California’s congested roadways and long commutes, many drivers get impatient and break traffic laws. Research indicates that more than one-third of all road fatalities in the US are caused by reckless driving.
