Fatal DUI Accidents in California

Drunk driving is common in the United States and California in particular. Driving under the influence of alcohol is exceptionally irresponsible behavior that causes thousands of accidents and kills more than 1,000 people in California each year. California law clearly states that it is illegal for any person to operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, if the person is 21 years old or older, or 0.01% if the person is under 21 years old. Despite these strict laws and corresponding penalties associated with breaking them, California is struggling with an increasing amount of DUI accidents.

Losing a loved one is one of the hardest things to experience in life, especially when their passing is tragic and untimely. When you are grieving, the last thing you want to think about is legal and insurance matters. Contacting a trusted wrongful death attorney can help with the important matters that need to be handled.

If someone you love was killed in a DUI accident, you may pursue a wrongful death claim against the drunk driver seeking financial compensation for damages, which may include such things as medical expenses, funeral expenses, lost future income and benefits, pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of companionship. While no monetary value can replace your loved one’s life, filing a wrongful death suit can bring justice and closure to your loved one’s passing and help ease the stress of any financial strains caused by their passing.
