Garden Grove, CA (December 8, 2022) – On Tuesday morning, December 6, a car accident was reported that resulted in one person sustaining an injury in Garden Grove.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred in the morning, around 9 a.m., on the Garden Grove 22 Freeway, east of Euclid Street. The accident occurred when two vehicles, a pickup truck and another vehicle, merged into the same space on the road and collided, which resulted in both vehicles incurring major damage. The officials reported that the crash blocked the eastbound HOV and two additional lanes of the freeway.
First responders were called to the scene to help those hurt in the accident. Paramedics helped people from their vehicles, and assessed and tended to the injured. One person suffered serious injuries and was transported to UCI Medical Center for additional treatment. There is no information at this time regarding the specific details of the injuries incurred in the crash or if there were any additional people that were injured.
The force of the impact caused major damage to the vehicles, blocked the roadway, and caused traffic to be significantly backed up. Traffic was diverted while crews helped people from their cars, tended to injuries, and cleaned up the wreckage. Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove both of the damaged vehicles from the freeway.
The authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and the events leading up to the collision.
