Huntington Beach, CA (June 2, 2022) – Around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night, May 31, one person was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Huntington Beach.
According to Huntington Beach officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Bolsa Chica Street and Argosy Avenue. A female pedestrian was walking in the area when she started to cross the street at the intersection. This is when she was struck by a gray Toyota Highlander. The driver and its passenger remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified only as a 63-year-old female, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 60-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, were not hurt in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the pedestrian involved in this accident.
Pedestrian accidents do not happen as commonly as other accidents within the state. However, when they do occur, they tend to lead to some of the most catastrophic harm. In some cases, lives are even lost in these accidents. More lives are lost in California pedestrian accidents than in many other states throughout the U.S. In 2019, it was reported that 972 pedestrians lost their lives in California accidents and many others sustained serious injuries. Between the years 2009 and 2018, an alarming 7,500 pedestrians were killed in fatal and life-altering accidents. If you have lost someone you love in a pedestrian accident, you should be prepared to speak with an attorney that you can trust.
