Fatal Car Accidents in California

Car accidents happen every day in California. Southern California is a highly populated region where most adults own a car and rely on it for daily commuting. As a result, California has some of the most congested roadways in the nation. It is reported that California averaged more than 1,000 accidents each day in 2020, which is an astounding number of accidents. Sadly, many of these accidents result in serious injuries or fatalities.

Reckless or negligent driving is the number one reason car accidents happen in California. These accidents are preventable if drivers would operate their vehicles dutifully and according to traffic laws. Negligent driving may include many things, some of the most common are texting while driving, speeding, and impaired driving. Reckless driving dramatically increases a driver’s risk of being in an accident, which may cause great harm to themselves or someone else. People need to realize the risk they are taking when they answer that text message or exceed the speed limit to reach their destination more quickly. These choices are not worth losing your life or causing someone else to lose theirs.

When your loved one is killed in an accident caused by someone else’s negligent actions, a wrongful death claim can be filed on their behalf by their next of kin. Oftentimes the loss of a family member causes the surviving family to incur various financial burdens. These may include medical bills, funeral costs, and lost future financial support. A wrongful death suit can help pay for the bills and other financial pressures that are piling up, and allow you to grieve without the added stress of strained finances. An experienced wrongful death attorney can help you with this process.
