Irvine, CA (June 15, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a car accident that took place at an intersection in Irvine on Wednesday afternoon, June 15.

According to California Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened around 3:09 p.m. at the intersection of Sand Canyon Avenue and Portola Parkway. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time, causing them to forcefully collide with each other. The involved vehicles sustained severe damage as a result of the accident.

Several responders, including Irvine fire crews and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were injured as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries, though their conditions are not yet known.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
