Irvine, CA – Two Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision in NB Lanes of I-405
Irvine, CA (May 1, 2022) – Two people were reportedly injured in a multi-vehicle collision that took place on a highway in Irvine on Sunday morning, May 1.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-405 around the area of Jamboree Road at 1:47 a.m. Three vehicles were involved in the collision. Police confirmed that a blue Toyota Mirai was stopped in a lane of traffic when it was suddenly rear-ended by a grey BMW SUV. A white Toyota Corolla was struck by debris from the initial two vehicles colliding. The vehicles sustained severe damage as a result of the accident.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people sustained injuries in the collision. The parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Toyota Mirai was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the accident. It is not known if they have been charged for their role in the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
