Pedestrian Accidents in Orange County

Being a pedestrian in the state of California may be quite hazardous, particularly because a rising number of pedestrians are struck by motor vehicles across the Golden State. Tragically, this is a rising concern in California year over year, often resulting in pedestrians being severely injured or killed on the state’s streets.

Unfortunately, California recorded over 900 pedestrian fatalities due to automobile collisions in 2018, a 25% rise from 2014. However, pedestrians in California should be aware of the imminent threats and be vigilant near automobiles. A pedestrian cannot do anything to avoid a sudden collision with an automobile, rendering them more susceptible to severe injury or death. Yet, pedestrians may attempt to keep themselves safe by taking a few measures and following a few safety recommendations. These suggestions may be really useful:

  • Whenever walking at night, wear brightly colored clothing with reflectors and carry a flashlight.
  • Always walk on the sidewalk or designated area for pedestrians to avoid vehicles and bicycles.
  • Establish eye contact with motorists; do not expect them to notice or stop for you.
  • Pay close attention to your environment.
  • Adhere to traffic regulations and watch out for stop signs and lights.

If someone you love was injured or died in a pedestrian accident, you may be eligible to file a claim for compensation. Filing a claim against the person responsible for your loved one’s death may provide closure to their passing and alleviate the financial difficulties created by their demise. Because statutes of limitation apply when it comes to filing a claim, you should contact an attorney as soon as possible.

Consult with a reputable attorney if you have suffered injuries or lost a loved one in a pedestrian-vehicle collision. Please get in touch with a Laguna Beach-area pedestrian accident lawyer at (949) 309-0990 to find out how we may assist you.
