Fatal Truck Accidents in California

The trucking industry is a fundamental part of California’s economy. However, trucks clog up California’s already busy roadways and make the roads more congested, which leads to frequent accidents involving large commercial trucks. Tractor-trailers are much larger than other vehicles and can weigh up to 80,000 pounds, which makes them much more difficult to control and maneuver. Given their large size, the risk of serious injury or death increases exponentially when accidents happen with trucks.

Truck accidents happen for many different reasons. Some common causes are speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, driving while fatigued due to long hours on the road, and impaired driving. Serious truck accidents can also be caused by poor handling during extreme weather, shifting cargo, difficulty breaking and stopping the truck in sudden situations, and hazards on the roadway.
