Fatal DUI Accidents in California

Motorcycles are very common in California. However, they can be a dangerous mode of transportation. When they are involved in an accident with a vehicle the likelihood of incurring severe injuries or fatalities is extremely high. There are generally no minor injuries following a motorcycle accident. Drivers need to watch for motorcycles and give them space. However, that doesn’t always happen and motorcycle accidents occur.

Many times, motorcycle accidents happen because of the negligent actions the other drivers on the road make. Some factors that contribute to motorcycle accidents include lane splitting, left-hand turns, cars not seeing a motorcyclist, tailgating, speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, and road hazards.

Impaired driving is reckless, negligent, and extraordinarily dangerous behavior. Any time someone chooses to drink alcohol or use other drugs and then drive, their decision-making, reaction times, and driving ability are all impaired. When drivers are engaging in negligent and risky behaviors such as drinking and driving, the chance of a serious accident increases dramatically. However, in California, it is illegal for any person to operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, if the person is 21 years old or older, or 0.01% if the person is under 21 years old.
