San Clemente, CA – Joshua Cervantes Killed in Fatal Bicycle Crash on Avenida La Pata
San Clemente, CA (June 11, 2022) – On Tuesday morning, June 7, a man was killed in a fatal bicycle crash that took place in San Clemente.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened around 1:25 a.m. at the intersection of Avenida La Pata and Avenida Pico. A bicyclist was traveling along the northbound lanes of traffic when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle continued on and then abandoned the vehicle a little ways up the road.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, identified as 40-year-old Joshua Cervantes, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene with both head and neck trauma.
Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident. The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
