San Juan Capistrano, CA – Fatality Reported following Car Crash at 15S & Avery Pkwy
San Juan Capistrano, CA (January 7, 2023) – On Wednesday evening, January 4, a serious accident was reported in San Juan Capistrano that tragically resulted in a fatality.
According to officials, the accident occurred around 7 p.m. on the southbound 15 Freeway near Avery Parkway. According to police, the accident happened when two vehicles, at least two vehicles crossed into each other’s paths and collided at full speed for unknown reasons. The impact of the crash severely damaged both of the involved vehicles.
Emergency personnel was called to the scene. Firefighters and paramedics quickly responded to the accident and worked to help the victims and tend to their injuries. Despite the paramedic’s efforts, at least one person sustained catastrophic injuries and died as a result of the accident. The police have not yet released the identity of the person that was killed in the accident. There is no information regarding whether anyone else was injured in the accident.
The accident delayed local traffic as crews tended to the victims, conducted their investigation, and cleared the accident. The 15S freeway near Avery Parkway had lanes closed following the crash.
The police are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
