Santa Ana, CA – Fatal Bicycle Crash at W First St & S Newhope St
Santa Ana, CA (February 13, 2022) – One person lost their life in a fatal bicycle crash that took place in Santa Ana on Saturday evening, February 12.
According to Santa Ana officials, the accident happened at the intersection of West First Street and Newhope Street around 4:42 p.m. Police arrived at the scene, where they found a bicyclist down on the sidewalk in the area. He was allegedly traveling east at the time when he was struck by a red Kia sedan. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the collision.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. The bicyclist, who has only been identified as an adult male, was traumatically injured. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to these injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the collision.
