Santa Ana, CA (January 14, 2022) – On Thursday afternoon, January 12, an accident occurred in Santa Ana that resulted in injuries and traffic delays.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. on the southbound Costa Mesa 55 Freeway just north of MacArthur Boulevard. The accident occurred when two vehicles, a Mazda sedan and a Volvo SUV, collided for unknown reasons as they were traveling on the freeway. The accident caused significant damage to the vehicles and caused significant disruption to the area. The Mazda had major front-end damage.
Paramedics were called to the scene to help those hurt in the accident. It is reported that at least one person sustained injuries in the accident, but there is limited information at this time regarding the extent of their injuries or if they were transferred to a hospital.
The force of the impact caused major damage to the vehicles, blocked the roadway, and caused traffic to be significantly backed up. Traffic was diverted while crews helped people from their cars, tended to injuries, and cleaned up the wreckage.
The authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and the events leading up to the collision.

Every day hundreds of people are injured in car accidents in California. There are many reasons why car accidents occur. While some accidents are caused by factors that aren’t anyone’s fault, such as poor weather, the majority are caused by driver error or negligence. Some of the most common behaviors that lead to accidents include distracted driving, texting while driving, impaired driving, fatigued driving, road rage, tailgating, and failing to follow traffic laws.
After an accident, there are a lot of new stresses that you are dealing with and new circumstances you are adjusting to. Perhaps you’re facing debilitating injuries, medical bills, vehicle repairs, and loss of income. A car accident can cause significant interruptions to your normal life and take quite some time to recover from. When you’ve been injured in a car accident, you may be entitled to compensation from those who caused the accident. Many people think they can handle the insurance company on their own after an accident. However, that generally doesn’t lead to the best outcome.
Insurance companies are not on your side and do not care for your best interest after an accident happens. Companies stay profitable by paying as little as possible on claims. The other party’s insurance company will likely deny responsibility and not want to pay you any compensation for the damages you’ve incurred. When dealing with the insurance company, you will not be dealing with your agent but, instead, an insurance adjuster who is trained to look for ways to deny your claim or limit your compensation. When you’re recovering and already dealing with so much, the last thing you need to deal with is the insurance company giving you a hard time or minimizing your claim.
