Santa Ana, CA (January 10, 2022) – On Monday afternoon, January 9, a hit-and-run accident was reported in Santa Ana that resulted in injuries and traffic delays.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred a little before 5 p.m. on the northbound 57 Freeway near the Orangewood Ave exit. The accident occurred when two vehicles veered into each other and collided as they were traveling on the freeway. One of the vehicles did not remain at the scene after the accident to exchange information with the other driver but fled the scene. The accident caused significant damage to the vehicles and caused road closures, and significant disruption to the area. There is limited information regarding the number or types of vehicles involved in the accident, and it is unclear at this time if the fleeing driver has been apprehended.
Emergency personnel was called to the scene to help those hurt in the accident. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene and tended to the injured. There is no information at this time regarding the number of people who were injured or the extent of their injuries, and if they were transported to area hospitals.
The force of the impact caused major damage to the vehicles, blocked the roadway, and caused traffic to be significantly backed up. Traffic was diverted while crews helped people from their cars, tended to injuries, and cleaned up the wreckage.
The authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and the events leading up to the collision.
Our thoughts are with the victims injured in this accident. We hope for the full recovery of all involved.
Southern California is one of the most congested places to drive in the country. Every day, the roads are flooded with cars and traffic jams, causing many accidents to occur. When you are involved in an accident, you are supposed to stop at the scene to exchange relevant information with the other party and wait for the policy to respond. Unfortunately, hit-and-run accidents are becoming much more frequent in the state. The fleeing driver often has broken the law in some way and is fleeing from the police to avoid the consequences and being held accountable. However, they are only adding to the charges that will be brought against them when they are ultimately found by the police. Failing to stop after you’re in an accident is a punishable offense, charged as either a misdemeanor or felony, depending on the severity of the accident.
A car accident can cause significant interruptions to your normal life, including new financial worries, medical expenses, vehicle repairs or replacement, and many other new expenses. Especially if you’re injured in the accident, you may be worried about who will pay for your medical care, expenses, and lost wages if you can’t work for some time. Depending on the circumstances of your accident, you may be entitled to compensation from those who caused the accident.
