Seal Beach, CA – Two Killed in Wrong-Way Six Car-Crash on I-405

Seal Beach, CA (February 20, 2022) – On Sunday morning, February 20, two people were killed in a fatal wrong-way car crash in Seal Beach.

According to local officials, the accident happened at 1:26 a.m. on I-405 around the area of I-605. Officials reported that a vehicle was headed north in the southbound lanes of traffic when it struck the first vehicle. A total of six vehicles became involved in the accident, which led to extensive damages to the involved vehicles. One of the vehicles overturned as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to their traumatic injuries. One person, who was trapped in their vehicle for an hour before being rescued, was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital with severe injuries. Two other people received minor injuries but were not hospitalized.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
