Tustin, CA – Serious DUI Pedestrian Crash at McFadden & Newport Aves

Tustin, CA (April 3, 2022) – Around 10 p.m. on the night of Saturday, April 2, a pedestrian crash took place at a Tustin intersection that led to serious injuries.

According to local officials, the accident happened at the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Newport Avenue. Officials were called to the scene, where they found that a pedestrian was down on the roadway. They started to render aid to the victim. Police discovered that the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that immediately fled the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their condition is not known at this time.

Police discovered that the driver who struck the pedestrian pulled into the parking lot at a gas station. The driver has since been arrested on suspicion of DUI after field sobriety tests were given.

Due to the severity of the collision, all northbound lanes of traffic were blocked at the intersection for an hour. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
