Fatal Car Accidents in California

Southern California is one of the busiest and most dangerous metropolitans in the country. A study by the National Highway Safety Administration (NHSTA) found that three of the ten most deadly highways in this country run through California. In California, tragically more than 3,500 people die in traffic accidents each year. Traffic-related fatalities have increased each year, even during the covid-19 pandemic. In 2022, police reports indicate that more than 1,000 people have died in traffic accidents in just the first three months. There are many reasons accidents happen in California, including texting while driving, speeding, impaired driving, or failing to yield or stop at traffic lights and stop signs. Research indicates that more than one-third of all road fatalities in the US are caused by speeding drivers.

Unexpectedly losing a loved one is something that no one wants to go through and is an overwhelming and emotional time in your life. Many necessary matters need to be handled in the days and weeks following an accident. Legal matters are the last thing you want to think about when mourning a loved one’s passing, but these things should not be put off. Legal matters should be addressed promptly to not miss any deadlines for filing a claim imposed by insurance companies.

When someone you love is killed by someone else’s action a wrongful death claim can be filed on their behalf by their next of kin. Oftentimes the loss of a close family member causes great financial losses to the surviving family members, both immediately and in the future. These losses include outstanding medical bills, funeral costs, and lost future earnings to name just a few. While no amount of money could ever replace your loved one’s presence in your life, a wrongful death suit can ease the financial pressures you are experiencing in their absence and help you to continue to provide for your family. An experienced wrongful death attorney can walk you through the process of filing a claim and help you handle these important matters.
