Fatal Car Accidents in California

Southern California is one of the busiest and most dangerous metropolitans in the state and country. An astonishing more than 400,000 vehicle crashes occur each year in the Golden State. Sadly, nearly 4,000 people are killed in traffic-related accidents each year, which has increased steadily over the years.

A wrongful death suit is a civil court lawsuit against another party for causing a person’s death. There are specific rules regarding who is eligible to file the claim on behalf of the deceased individual. However, usually, it is a close relative or executor of an estate that files the claim. There are two requirements that you must prove to successfully pursue a wrongful death lawsuit in California, which include:

  1. You must prove that the negligent, reckless, or intentional act of another person caused the death of your loved one.
  2. You must document quantifiable damages that were caused by your loved one’s death.

If you can prove the above two items, you may be eligible to recover compensation. The attorneys at Russell & Lazarus APC can evaluate the circumstances of your loved one’s passing and advise if you have a claim. They can also help you gather evidence and document the items necessary to satisfy the burden of proof in your case. While we understand no amount of money can remedy the pain of losing your family member, a wrongful death suit can help you get justice for your loved one and help ease the financial burdens you are experiencing after their passing.
