Westminster, CA – Robert Avila Killed in Fatal Accident on Goldenwest St

Westminster, CA (June 10, 2022) – Around 5:35 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, June 7, a man was killed in a fatal accident in Westminster.

According to Westminster officials, the accident happened at 14500 Goldenwest Street near the area of Hazard Avenue. A man who was working in the city as a crossing guard was involved in a serious car accident with a second vehicle. The vehicles both sustained heavy damages as a result of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The crossing guard who was not working at the time, identified as 77-year-old Robert Avila, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries caused by the accident. A passenger in his vehicle, as well as the driver of the second vehicle, were both hospitalized with unknown injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released but Orange County officials continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
