It goes without saying that traffic accidents occur regularly in California, especially considering that the majority of commuters use a car to navigate the Golden State. In addition, California has over 27 million registered vehicles and is one of the most dangerous states in which to drive. Daily, the roads are jammed with traffic and heavily congested, resulting in long commutes and traffic jams.
Clearly, California drivers have a substantial risk of getting involved in a traffic incident. Despite how regular collisions are, nobody ever expects to get involved in one. Knowing some of the most prevalent causes of collisions should aid drivers in lowering their overall risk. Among California’s most common causes of accidents are distracted driving, speeding, failure to yield, and more.
However, almost all of these dangers may be avoided if drivers use care on the road. Each driver on the road owes the other drivers a legal obligation to operate their vehicle safely and responsibly so as to avoid inflicting harm. When an accident happens, this legal duty of care has likely been breached, and careless drivers may be liable for various damages.
