Yucaipa, CA – Ten People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-10 FWY
Yucaipa, CA (October 4, 2022) – On Saturday evening, October 1, a multi-vehicle accident resulting in many injuries was reported in Yucaipa.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred in the evening, around 6:30 p.m. on the 10 Freeway near 16th Street. The accident occurred when multiple vehicles that were traveling eastbound were involved in a series of collisions. One vehicle initially collided with another vehicle, which set off a series of subsequent collisions that ultimately involved a total of six vehicles in this multi-car crash.
Emergency personnel was called to the scene. Due to the many injuries and vehicles involved, multiple emergency agencies were called upon to render care to the victims. Many people were trapped in their vehicles after the crash and needed extrication by firefighters. In total, ten people were injured in the accident. Paramedics rushed three victims to the hospital for emergency medical care. At this time there is no additional information about their condition and the extent of their injuries.
The force of the impact caused major damage to the vehicles, blocked the roadway, and caused traffic to be significantly backed up. The vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Traffic was diverted while crews helped people from their cars, tended to injuries, and cleaned up the wreckage. The eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway were shut down for many hours as crews cleaned up the wreckage.
The authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and the events leading up to the collision.
