San Marcos, CA – One Killed in Fatal Crash on I-15 FWY

San Marcos, CA (October 23, 2022) – On Saturday morning, October 22, a serious accident was reported in San Marcos that killed one person.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on the I-15 Freeway near Deer Springs Road. The police indicated that the crash involved a pickup truck and a sedan that merged into the same space on the freeway and collided with each other at full speed. As a result of the impact, one of the vehicles flipped over and rolled, and hit the guardrail.

Emergency personnel was immediately called to the scene. Firefighters and paramedics quickly responded to the accident and found a sedan and pickup truck, both with major damage to many parts of the vehicle. Paramedics worked quickly to help the injured. The CHP reported that the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office was requested to join the CHP. Sadly, one person sustained life-threatening injuries and died as a result of the accident. The identity of the person killed has not been released at this time.

There is no other information at this time about the other injuries anyone else sustained in the crash.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and the events leading up to the impact. The collision blocked a few lanes of the freeway for many hours as paramedics tended to the injured, police conducted their investigation, and crews cleared the wreckage.
