Anaheim, CA – Judith Stanford Identified in Fatal Hit-and-Run on Harbor Blvd

Anaheim, CA (January 24, 2024) – A 54-year-old man suspected of fatally striking a woman with his vehicle and injuring three others near Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center was arrested on Wednesday, authorities said, and the victim of the wreck has also been identified. The incident initially occurred near the corner of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue after officers say the suspect hit three people crossing at the intersection.

Shortly thereafter, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Jon McClintock, the same driver struck a 75-year-old woman at Harbor Boulevard and Convention Way. The latter victim, now identified as Judith Stanford, was rushed to a hospital but later pronounced dead. One of the other three victims was also transported to a local medical center. Police say the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday and charged on suspicion of vehicle manslaughter with gross negligence and hit and run with injury. No further details have been released, however, and authorities continue to investigate.

Our sincere condolences go out to Judith Stanford’s family. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents in Orange County

Walking is becoming more popular among Orange County residents as they take advantage of the pleasant climate and picturesque surroundings. Unfortunately, more people die as pedestrians in vehicle accidents than as motorists or passengers. Furthermore, California is one of the states with the highest number of pedestrians injured in car accidents. In the years spanning 2008 and 2019, 7127 pedestrians lost their lives in California. There was a nearly 35% increase in overall fatalities and a similar increase in pedestrian fatalities in California during this time period.

In addition, 375 pedestrians were killed due to being struck by cars in Orange County throughout the course of five years ending on the last day of 2021, as reported by the Orange County coroner’s office. Those who are out and about along major thoroughfares are greatly at risk for severe injury or death, as shown by statistics on pedestrian accidents in Orange County.

Pedestrians must always be on the lookout for and avoid cars since they are at a significantly higher risk of serious harm or death while in their path. A pedestrian’s chance of getting in an accident may be greatly reduced by following certain simple precautions and rules of the road.

The family of a pedestrian accident victim, however, may have legal recourse for monetary damages. If you want answers concerning your loved one’s death and financial compensation, filing a lawsuit against the responsible party may assist. Due to the strict filing requirements imposed by insurance companies and state law, you should speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
