Buena Park, CA – One Dead, Several Hurt in Pursuit & Crash on La Palma

Buena Park, CA (November 22, 2023) – A driver who was being pursued by law enforcement collided with another vehicle and flipped over in Buena Park on Monday night, resulting in the death of one person and the hospitalization of many others.

After a brief chase at Knott’s Berry Farm, the incident happened at the intersection of La Palma Avenue and Knott Avenue at around 11:40 p.m. Police reportedly encircled the vehicle while it was in the drive-thru lane, but the driver swerved to avoid them by going over a curb, according to a witness. The chase stopped when the vehicle collided with a white Mercedes-Benz as it accelerated past the junction of La Palma and Knott.

The stolen black car overturned and caught fire, leaving significant front-end damage to the Mercedes-Benz. The Orange County Fire Authority attended to numerous victims. A 24-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene; one other passenger was taken to a nearby hospital. After escaping the Mercedes-Benz on their own, two adults and two children were sent to the hospital with mild to moderate injuries. Another person individual, who was a bystander on a bicycle, sustained injuries and was sent to a hospital. An investigation remains ongoing at this time.

We extend our sincere condolences to the deceased man’s family. Our thoughts also go out to the injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recovery.

Deadly Vehicle Wrecks in Orange County

Multi-vehicle crashes are an unfortunate fact of life in the Golden State. After all, most Californians need a vehicle for their daily commutes, no matter where they reside. With nearly 27 million cars on the road, California is consistently ranked as one of the most high-traffic states, leading to even greater risk and danger when operating motor vehicles. Every day, travel times are made longer by traffic congestion, car accidents, and the sheer volume of vehicles on the road.

Unfortunately, there is seemingly always the chance of getting into a car accident on California’s roadways. No one ever anticipates being involved in an accident, but knowing the most common factors that lead to collisions and how to protect your legal rights after a crash are important.

Of course, every driver is expected to drive safely on the road to prevent injury to others. That’s why, when an accident happens, someone’s “duty of care” under the law has probably been broken, and that person or people may be held accountable for any injuries or other losses that result from the event. Tragically, thousands of people suffer permanent injuries due to auto accidents every year. Even at lower speeds, car accidents frequently cause severe injuries requiring immediate and ongoing medical attention.

Fortunately, a reputable vehicle accident attorney can assist you in understanding your options after an accident. You may be able to file a claim to be compensated for losses you’ve experienced due to the accident. The appropriate course of action for your specific case should be determined with the advice of an experienced lawyer.
