Chatsworth, CA – Victim Impaled in Fatal Three-Car Crash on 118 Fwy
Chatsworth, CA (January 12, 2024) – A fatal crash involving three vehicles on the 118 Freeway triggered major delays for the Monday morning commute in Los Angeles. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 8:40 a.m. in LA’s Chatsworth area, just before the Topanga Canyon off-ramp.
Three vehicles, including a lumber truck, a Penske rental truck, and an SUV, were involved. Per the preliminary investigation, a person inside the Penske truck was impaled by lumber from the back of another moving truck. The crash investigation closed all westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway in the area earlier. All lanes reopened around 12:15 p.m., but the name of the victim was not released by authorities, and no other information was immediately available.
