Pedestrian Fatalities in Orange County

Residents in Orange County are ditching their cars in favor of foot travel to take in the region’s stunning natural beauty. Unfortunately, more people die as pedestrians in vehicle accidents than as motorists or passengers. California has one of the highest rates of pedestrian injuries due to motor vehicle collisions. In the years spanning 2008 and 2019, 7127 pedestrians lost their lives in California. There was a 34.4 percent increase in overall fatalities and a 34.5 percent increase in pedestrian fatalities in California during this time period.

In addition, 375 pedestrians were killed by cars in Orange County throughout the course of the five years ending on the last day of 2021, as reported by the Orange County coroner’s office. Those who are out and about along major thoroughfares are greatly at risk for severe injury or death, as shown by statistics on pedestrian accidents in Orange County.

Pedestrians must always be on the lookout for and avoid cars since they are at a significantly higher risk of serious harm or death while in their path. A pedestrian’s chance of getting in an accident may be greatly reduced by following certain simple precautions and rules of the road.

The family of a pedestrian accident victim, however, may have legal recourse for monetary damages. If you want answers concerning your loved one’s death and financial compensation, filing a lawsuit against the responsible party may assist. Due to the strict filing requirements imposed by insurance companies and state law, you should speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
