According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8:50 a.m. on the southbound I-5 near Avery Parkway. The accident involved a semi-truck loaded with 45,000 pounds of lumber and a Toyota Camry. The accident occurred when the semi-truck and sedan merged into the same space on the freeway and caused them to collide at full highway speeds. As a result of the collision, the Toyota Camry became lodged underneath the semi-truck and was severely damaged by the accident.

Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove the semi-truck and the sedan. Police issued a SigAlert for approximately two hours following the accident.

Police are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Our thoughts are with the victims injured in this accident. We hope for the full recovery of all involved.

Truck Accidents in California

Trucks maintain a regular presence on California’s highways. California has some of the longest commutes in the country and trucks further add to this congestion. Since tractor-trailers are much larger than other vehicles on the roads, they can be much more difficult to control and maneuver. Unfortunately, trucks are regularly involved in accidents in California. Given their large size, they can cause a lot of damage when in an accident, which makes the risk of serious injury very high.

After an accident, a truck company’s primary goal is to avoid liability, shift blame, and limit the amount of money they have to pay out on a claim. Many parties can be at fault when there is a truck accident, including the driver, trucking company, manufacturer, or cargo loaders, to name just a few. Because of all the different parties involved, truck accident cases and determining liability can be more complicated than ordinary car accidents. Therefore, it is best to have an experienced truck accident attorney evaluate your case.

Attorneys can use the legal resources at their disposal to fight the insurance companies to get you the compensation you deserve. The liable party may be required to compensate you for your medical bills, lost wages, vehicle repair or replacement, and other damages you’ve suffered. An accident causes significant disruptions to your life, from injuries to new financial worries. If you were injured in an accident caused by someone else’s careless or reckless behavior, it’s important to hold the at-fault person responsible.

If you were in a car accident caused by someone else’s negligence you should speak to an experienced truck accident lawyer right away. They will walk you through the process of what is to come and help you understand your rights and what compensation you may be entitled to for your suffering.
