Santa Ana, CA – DUI Accident Leads to Injuries in NB Lanes of SR-55

Santa Ana, CA (March 27, 2022) – On Sunday morning, March 27, a DUI accident led to injuries om a major highway in Santa Ana.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the accident happened around 2:31 a.m. in the northbound lanes of SR-55 around the area of Edinger Avenue. Police arrived at the scene and found that two vehicles were overturned off the side of the road, identified as a blue Toyota Camry and a second Toyota Camry with a person trapped inside. The first Camry was inside a ditch.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The victim inside the second Camry was extricated from his vehicle by fire crews. He was rushed to a local hospital but was later arrested on suspicion of DUI. Two occupants inside the other Camry were also injured in the collision but are expected to recover.

Police spoke to witnesses at the scene and found that the second Camry was driving in and out of lanes before it rear-ended the other Camry, causing both to overturn. A pole was also struck as a result of the collision.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
