Car Accidents in California

Traffic accidents constantly occur in California. After all, no matter where you live in the Golden State, a car is a necessity for many people to commute. California is home to over 27 million registered vehicles and is one of the country’s most dangerous places to drive. Every day the roads are flooded with traffic and are extremely busy with long commutes and traffic jams.

Every day when drivers travel on California’s roads, they are at risk of getting into a traffic accident. Of course, however, being involved in an accident is something that no one ever plans for, and awareness of some of the most frequent causes of accidents can help drivers reduce overall risk. Some of the most common causes of car crashes in California include the following:

  • Distracted driving
  • Drunk driving
  • Speeding
  • Braking traffic laws
  • Inattention
  • Failure to yield
  • Drowsy driving
  • Inexperienced driver
  • Dangerous roadways
  • Poor weather

Nearly all of these causes can be avoided if drivers use caution. Every motorist has an obligation to all people on the road to drive safely and responsibly and not cause any harm. This so-called “duty of care” under the law is likely breached when an accident occurs, making at-fault parties potentially liable for any subsequent injuries and various other damages.

Unfortunately, these car accidents leave thousands of people with serious, life-altering personal injuries. Moreover, car accidents often result in painful injuries requiring immediate and long-term medical care.
