California leads the nation with the busiest and most dangerous roadways in the country. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2018 more than 3,500 people were killed in car accidents in California. In each year since then, the number of traffic-related fatalities has increased. In the first three months of 2022, there were already over 1,000 deaths related to car accidents and this is on pace to exceed previous years’ fatalities. There are many reasons accidents happen in California, some of which include texting while driving, speeding, impaired driving, or failing to yield or stop at traffic lights and stop signs.
