El Cajon, CA – One Critically Injured in Rollover Crash on I-8
El Cajon, CA (October 28, 2022) – On Thursday morning, October 27, a serious crash was reported in El Cajon that critically injured one person and left another with injuries of an unknown degree.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on eastbound I-8 near El Cajon Boulevard. The accident involved a pickup truck and a sedan. The exact circumstances are unclear as to what caused them to collide. They entered the same space on the highway at full speed, which caused both vehicles to overturn and roll.
Emergency personnel was called and quickly arrived at the scene to find a sedan upside down on the side of an embankment and a pickup truck was flipped over on the freeway. One person was ejected from their vehicle after the crash and was found unconscious on the ground. Paramedics rushed this person to the hospital for emergency treatment of their critical injuries. There is no update at this time as to the person’s condition. Another person was assessed for their injuries at the scene and taken to the hospital for further treatment. Officials have not released any information as to this person’s condition either.
The accident caused the area to be shut down as crews cleaned up the debris and wreckage, conducted their investigation, and tended to the injured.
Police are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
