Irvine, CA – Man Injured in Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-5
Irvine, CA (February 16, 2022) – A man was injured in a tractor-trailer accident that happened on a major highway in Irvine on Tuesday night, February 15.
According to local officials, the accident happened at 10:05 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-5 around the area of Alton Parkway. A driver was in their Toyota Camry when their vehicle collided with the back of a tractor-trailer due to reasons that are not fully known. The Toyota collided so forcefully with the truck that it became embedded into its rear.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The male driver in the Toyota was injured as a result of the accident. He was taken to Mission Hospital but is expected to recover.
The roadway was blocked in several southbound lanes of traffic for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
