Santa Ana, CA (July 4, 2023) – On Monday, a person crossing the street in Santa Ana was fatally struck by a vehicle, according to officers with the Santa Ana Police Department.
At around 12:50 p.m., SAPD officers were notified of a car accident that had just occurred one block west of Broadway, in the 200 block of North Ross Street. When police arrived, they discovered a victim had been hit by a car.
The victim, whose identity was withheld due to privacy reasons, was declared deceased at the scene.
The vehicle driver stayed at the site and helped the police with their investigation. Alcohol is not suspected of having had a role in the crash, though Investigator L. Bao with the SAPD requested that anybody with information regarding this crash contact him.
The investigation is continuing in the interim, and no further details have been released to the public since earlier this week.
Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with the deceased victim’s family.
It goes without saying that walking about the state of California may be dangerous, given the growing number of pedestrians who have been killed or wounded in vehicle accidents in the state of California.
In point of fact, the number of pedestrians killed by automobiles in the state of California increased by 25 percent between the years 2014 and 2018, with approximately 900 deaths being recorded.
Unfortunately, because pedestrians are more likely to suffer injuries that might result in their death or life-threatening complications, they would be well aware of the dangers they encounter while walking near moving vehicles and take precautions against those dangers. Pedestrians may try to protect themselves from potential dangers by taking a few preventative steps and keeping in mind a few basic safety guidelines.
However, you may be able to seek compensation for your losses if a loved one was harmed or died in a pedestrian accident. Taking legal action against the at-fault person may help families get beyond their loss and recover financially after a fatal accident. You should consult an attorney as soon as possible since insurance companies and state law set severe filing deadlines.
