It’s no wonder that traffic accidents are common in California, given that most of the state’s nearly 40 million residents rely on personal vehicles for transportation. Needless to say, California is one of the most dangerous states to drive in, with over 27 million registered vehicles. Heavy traffic and very busy roadways lead to daily long commutes and traffic jams, and thus, an increased number of injury-causing accidents.
It’s safe to say that car accidents are quite common occurrences for California motorists. That said, while accidents are common, no one ever plans to be involved in a traffic crash.
Adding insult to injury, most risk factors leading to a wreck could be avoided if drivers were more careful and cautious. Although every motorist has a moral and legal responsibility to drive with reasonable safety to avoid causing harm to pedestrians, cyclists, and other motorists, this duty of care under the law has likely been breached in the event of a wreck, and careless drivers may be liable for various damages.
