Windsor Hills, CA – 6 Killed, 7 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on La Brea Ave at Slauson Ave
Windsor Hills, CA (August 5, 2022) – On Thursday afternoon, August 4, at approximately 1:30 p.m., six people were killed in a fatal multi-vehicle accident in Windsor Hills. Seven people were also injured in the crash.
According to officials, the crash happened when a Mercedes coupe traveling south on La Brea Ave at an excessive rate of speed, drove through a red light, and crashed into several cars at full speed at Slauson Ave. At least six vehicles were involved in the crash. Three vehicles burst into flames upon impact. Fire, sparks of electricity, and clouds of smoke were reported in the area by witnesses. The accident caused significant disruptions to the area for several hours as crews tended to victims and cleaned up the wreckage.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other emergency personnel responded within minutes to the fiery scene. Officials reported that a pregnant woman, an infant, and three other adults were killed in the crash and ensuing fire. Seven additional people, including several children ranging in age from 13 months to 15 years, were assessed for injuries and taken to the hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the Mercedes, described by investigators as a woman around 40 years old, survived the crash and was hospitalized for her injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. They expect to charge the driver of the Mercedes with multiple criminal charges for the crash.
