Motorcycle Accidents in California

Motorcyclists are a favorite mode of transportation for Californians. There are more registered motorcycles in California than in any other state. Motorcycles are an environmental and economical choice for commuters, especially with the rising fuel costs and efforts to reduce our carbon emissions. Many people in California ride their motorcycles for the pure enjoyment of it as a favorite hobby. However, motorcycles are also a dangerous mode of transportation. What starts out as a leisurely day on the open road, can end in tragedy if the other drivers on the road are not careful to watch for motorcycles. Motorcyclists are just as entitled to their fair share of the roadways as other vehicles. However, that doesn’t always happen and motorcycle accidents unfortunately occur. Since the other vehicles are so much bigger, when motorcyclists are in accidents, they are very likely to incur serious injuries or death.

There are many reasons motorcycle accidents happen, which are often the result of the negligent actions of the other drivers sharing the road. Some factors that contribute to motorcycle accidents include lane splitting, left-hand turns, cars not seeing a motorcyclist, tailgating, speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, and hazards on the road.
