Phelan, CA – One Killed, One Injured in Head-On Crash on HWY 138
Phelan, CA (October 13, 2022) – On Wednesday afternoon, October 12, a serious head-on accident was reported in Phelan that tragically killed one person and injured one.
According to officials, the accident occurred around 12:50 p.m. on Highway 138 near Highway. According to police, a Dodge and a Kia crossed into each other’s path and collided head-on at full speed for reasons that are unknown at this time. The impact of the crash severely damaged both of the involved vehicles.
Emergency personnel was called to the scene including a medical helicopter. Firefighters and paramedics quickly responded to the accident and worked to help the victims and tend to injuries. Despite the paramedic’s efforts, one person sustained catastrophic injuries and died at the scene of the accident. A second person was severely injured in the accident and was airlifted to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with major injuries and a broken right leg. The police have not yet released the identity of the person that was killed in the accident.
The accident delayed local traffic for many hours as crews tended to the victims, conducted their investigation, and cleared the accident. Highway 138 was closed from Highway 2 to Lone Pine Canyon Road.
The police are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
