Fallbrook, CA – Passenger Killed in Fatal Plane Crash at Plant Nursery on Olive Hill Rd
Fallbrook, CA (July 23, 2022) – On Saturday afternoon, July 23, a fatal plane crash took place in Fallbrook that took the life of one victim.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened in the afternoon hours around 1:30 p.m. at a plant nursery at 2575 Olive Hill Road. Police confirmed that the crash happened about a mile away from the Fallbrook Airpark. A witness heard the engine fail on a vintage aircraft that had taken off and did not make it past the runway. The plane crashed and started to leak oil and fuel all over the ground nearby.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Fire crews worked for about 25 minutes to pry another canopy off the top to remove the passenger. The passenger inside the plane was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The pilot was pulled out and rushed to the hospital, though their condition is not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the area was blocked for some time. There was a fire risk in the area for some time but fire crews were able to bring the scene under control.
