Six Injured in Head-on Collision in Seal Beach

A head-on car crash in Seal Beach injured a total of six people. Two of the injuries were considered to be critical. The accident took place on the Seal Beach Boulevard overpass above the San Diego Freeway (405). The accident involved three vehicles.

Two of the people involved in the accident had to be extricated by Orange County Fire Authority crews. As rescue workers arrived they hurried six people, including a family of four, to local trauma centers and hospitals, according to Seal Beach Police Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Bowles.

“We still haven’t determined the cause of the collision,” said Bowles.

Preliminary reports of the accident are pointing to the cause as being due to two vehicles that collided head on as they were speeding down Seal Beach Boulevard. The initial collision caused one of the vehicles to collide with a third car, According to Orange County Fire Authority spokesman Marc Stone.

Two of the women who were involved in the accident were taken to trauma hospitals as they were considered to be in critical condition. Two men and two children involved in the accident were taken to hospitals for evaluation, Bowles said.

Seal Beach Boulevard was closed in both directions. The Boulevard reopened in the early morning after investigators from multiple agency Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the accident.

At this time the accident remains under investigation. The Seal Beach Police Department is seeking any witnesses that may have knowledge of the accident.
