$848,000 | A horrible bus crash that caused a death and several serious injuries to over 22 passengers, including our 43-year-old client, who sustained serious “road rash” injuries requiring skin grafting and plastic surgery.

Sustained Serious Injuries

Our 43-year-old female client sustained serious injuries to her dominant hand when the pleasure bus that she was riding on tipped on to its side, causing her hand to be crushed between the bus and the highway asphalt.  She was with a group of friends going to Las Vegas when the bus driver lost control of the bus as he was traveling at a high rate of speed.  A mother of two young children was killed, and all of the other 21 victims sustained serious injuries.  Our client was airlifted to the nearest trauma hospital from the scene and eventually underwent severe skin graft operations to repair the damage to her hand.  Unfortunately there was only $5 million in insurance that had to be divided among the injured victims. A three week binding arbitration concluded with our client being awarded the second highest amount, $848,000, second only to the wrongful death claim that was awarded approximately $200,000 more, despite the other injured parties also having serious injuries consistent with those suffered by our client.  Russell & Lazarus prepared the claim as if it was a trial presentation with witnesses, opening statement, closing argument and demonstrative evidence.  Most of the other ten law firms involved did not go to that length of preparation and presentation which allowed our client to obtain almost four times the amount as the other victims.

Awarded: $848,000 Arbitration Award
