People in Orange County are getting out of their automobiles and taking advantage of the region’s beautiful weather and scenery by walking more. The fatality rate for pedestrians in car accidents is, tragically, far greater than that of drivers and passengers. California is one of the most dangerous states for pedestrians due to the high number of pedestrians who are wounded or killed in automotive accidents there. In California, 7127 pedestrians have been murdered between 2008 and 2019. The total death toll in California rose by 34.4% during this time period, while the death toll for pedestrians rose by 34.5% during this time period.
And data from the Orange County coroner’s office shows that 375 pedestrians were murdered by cars in Orange County between the years 2010 and 2021. According to data on pedestrian accidents in Orange County, those who are out and about near major thoroughfares are extremely vulnerable to serious injury or death.
Since pedestrians are so much more likely to suffer serious injuries or even death in the event of a collision with a car, it is imperative that they be aware of, and cautious around, moving vehicles. Pedestrians can reduce their risk of being involved in an accident by taking some simple measures and adhering to some basic safety guidelines.
However, you may be able to seek compensation for your losses if a loved one was harmed or died in a pedestrian accident. Taking legal action against the at-fault party can help you find closure for your loss and alleviate the financial strain caused by your loved one’s death. You should consult an attorney as soon as possible since insurance companies and state law set severe filing deadlines.
