Anaheim, CA – Fatality Reported in Pedestrian Accident on I-5 Fwy at 91 Fwy to Artesia

Anaheim, CA (July 14, 2023) – Officers with the Anaheim Police Department are reportedly investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that took place early Friday morning, July 14.

APD officers say a pedestrian was fatally injured after being hit by a car in the Anaheim area. Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were also dispatched, with a spokesperson stating that the incident happened around 1:50 a.m.

Police responded to the southbound Santa Ana I-5 Freeway interchange at the westbound 91 Freeway to Artesia. The pedestrian’s identity, age, and sex were unknown, but officers say the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identity will be revealed after authorities notify their nearest of kin.

The accident caused the complete shutdown of the southbound lanes for several hours. The roadway reopened by morning rush hour, though the police investigation has continued.
