Garden Grove, CA – Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident at Chapman & Nelson Aves

Garden Grove, CA (June 28, 2023) – On Sunday morning in Garden Grove, a man was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to authorities.

The driver who struck the pedestrian also sustained head and limb injuries when her vehicle collided with a tree after the initial accident. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to Sgt. Lino Santana of the Garden Grove Police Department.

Santana added that officers were dispatched to the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Nelson Avenue at 1:10 a.m. and reported that the woman was trapped inside her vehicle. She was eventually rescued and assessed by EMTs

Shortly thereafter, officers observed a deceased male about 75 yards east of the crash site, at the southeast corner of Chapman Avenue and Diane Street.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to have played a role in the collision, but the Orange County Crime Lab’s findings are pending, Santana stated. The investigation into the collision is ongoing in the meantime.
